Jobs Growth Wales+ (JGW+) is a fantastic training and development programme for 16–19 year olds, who need the skills, qualifications, and experience to progress onto an Apprenticeship, set up your own business or land your dream job.
You will receive employability training and all the support you need to fast forward to the next stage of your life – all while being paid!
A daily meal allowance of £3.90 is now available for all JGW+ learners attending Centre or Work Placement.
Allowances are not Means Tested so all our JGW+ learners are entitled to the allowance regardless of household income.
Jobs Growth Wales+ is divided into three strands of support. Our tutors will help decide which level is right for you. We’ll then develop a learning plan tailored to your individual needs, to ensure you get any support you require.
This strand of Jobs Growth Wales+ will help you decide what to do next. It’s also a good place to start if you need more support to help you take part in employment and education.
It gives you the opportunity to have a taste of jobs you might be interested in before you commit to a course or apprenticeship. It will also help you get ready for and move into the world of work.
If you have a particular job or career path in mind, this strand of Jobs Growth Wales+ will help you turn this into a reality.
You can gain new skills in your chosen subject, and qualifications to help you progress to a higher level.
You’ll also gain work experience with local employers. You might even get a real job interview at the end of your work experience – and the support you receive through Jobs Growth Wales+ will help you to make a good impression.
The JGW+ Employment Strand provides a wage subsidy for a paid and sustainable job opportunity and is for JGW+ Programme eligible young people who are assessed as:
The 10 week period focuses on work related preparation, during this time you will receive £70 per week for 30 hours attendance.
We will provide the support needed to address any barrier/s identified as preventing you from progressing into employment including an Apprenticeship.
Any support and work related preparation including essential skills which has been identified in the young person’s ILP, as may be needed to progress the young person into sustainable employment, including an Apprenticeship, at the earliest opportunity.
Following the 10 week period, your employer can access a wage subsidy at 50% of the national minimum wage for the young person’s age for 6 months.
