We are delighted to announce that two of our Learners from Merthyr Tydfil, Charley Lambert (pictured) & Joel Braddock have successfully gained employment with a local mediation company through their Level 1 Traineeship Programme.
Well done to you both and of course to Family Matters for working closely with us in partnership. May we wish you all, every success for the future!
For the first time in our recorded history, one of our learners Denise Bove from Merthyr Tydfil has completed her ECDL level two test and received a 100% pass in both parts of the test. A fantastic result, Well Done!
“Before taking the test, I felt I would not pass as I felt very nervous knowing I had to pass both parts of the test to succeed. I was really surprised to hear I had passed and so happy to hear I had 100% in both parts I was so shocked.” (Denise Bove)
My name is Nikola Janufova and I am originally from the Czech Republic. I started secondary school at Cyfarthfa High School at 14 and left when I was 16. After I left school I did not know what I wanted to do, so I took a year out to decide what I wanted to do with my life. I decided to go to Careers Wales to see what options were available for me and they referred me to Tydfil Training.
I had a pleasant interview with one of the Tydfil Training staff and I decided to give it a go. I started on the Engagement program where I undertook the wider Key Skills for example, Improving own learning, Working with others and Problem Solving plus Health & Safety in the Workplace Lv2 and Food Hygiene.
Then I progressed to the Level 1 Traineeship programme. Tydfil Training provided me with a placement at Prince Charles Hospital. My role was to be a Medical Clerk. This was one of the best experiences that I’ve been given by Tydfil Training. I was working in a busy environment where I learned so many things and gained so much experience. While working at Prince Charles Hospital I then progressed onto Level 1 NVQ in Business Administration. During my NVQ I also had the opportunity to undertake and complete my Essential Skills Wales qualification in Communication and Application of number level 1.
I am currently employed as a receptionist with Tydfil Training and I am working towards my Foundation Modern Apprenticeship which consists of a Level 2 NVQ in Business Administration and a Framework that includes my Essential Skills Wales qualifications in Communication and Application of number level 1 also my CFA Employers Rights and Responsibilities booklet and EDI level 2 technical certificate in Principles of Business Administration.
As you can see I am very busy and happy that I decided to visit Careers Wales as I am on my way to becoming an integral part of Tydfil Training.
I studied at Tydfil Training for 3 months during 2010 at your Bridgend Training Centre. While there, you afforded me the chance to complete my driving test and qualifications. Since then I’ve passed my driving test during the summer, bought a van and advertised for gardening work. I now have my own business (I’m actually turning work down this year!) and currently studying Level 3 Horticulture at Pencoed.
Many many thanks – without the opportunities offered to me through Tydfil Training, I would not be where I am now – which is great!

We are delighted to announce that a new customer of ours Christan Thomas has now gained employment as a welder after being with us for only one week on the Rehab Job-Fit Work Programme at our Pontypridd Training Centre. Christan was introduced to our Employment Liaison Officer who identified his trade and then matched him to a local employer to arrange an interview and test weld. Well Done Christan!
“I have been unemployed for just over a year and I was sent on a back to work program with Tydfil Training in Pontypridd and within a week I had a job!
I was a bit sceptical at first but when I got there, all the staff were very helpful and I’m really pleased with the outcome.”
